The White House continues to be a revolving door for top officials of the Trump Administration. The latest being the surprise resignation Sunday of the President’s Secretary of Homeland Security Kristjen M. Nielsen. “I hereby resign from the position of Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), effective April 7th 2019,” Nielsen wrote in her letter of resignation. Nielsen had many clashes with President Trump over immigration and border security policies. Reports are circulating the Trump was frustrated with her not being “tough” enough, and is seeking a more heavy-handed approach on immigration to confront the wave of migrant families heading to the U.S.
“Its been an honor of a lifetime to serve with the brave men and women of @DHSgov. ”
Kristjen Nielsen.
Nielsen will stay until April 10 “to assist with an orderly transition and ensure that key DHS missions are not impacted,” she stated on twitter. Many point to her resignation as the culmination of Trumps’ migrant policy disaster.
“Secretary Nielsen oversaw a department that separated families at the border. This is a cruel, inhumane, & unAmerican practice.”

I'm concerned by the reports that she is resigning because she was not extreme enough on immigration for the White House.
We must be better than this.
