BRICS Conference: India Is World’s Fastest Growing Economy; S. Africa Key Pillar of BRICS

(WASHINGTON D.C.) -BRAZIL, RUSSIA, INDIA, CHINA , SOUTH AFRICA . These are the BRICS countries, an association of five major emerging national economies. The five BRICS countries represent almost 3.6 billion people, with a combined nominal GDP of US$19 Trillion and an estimated US$4 Trillion in combined foreign reserves. The Eurasia Center held its 7th Annual “DOING BUSINESS WITH BRICS” Conference in Washington D.C. this week. “India’s Red Hot economy has now become the world’s fastest growing economy, projected to grow at 7.5 percent in 2019, 7.7 percent in 2020, as India’s Government has loosened regulations on foreign investment,” according to The Eurasia Center. Brazil has come out of recession in 2017 with an increased GDP rate of 1 percent and is planning important economic reforms. China is promising billions of dollars in tax cuts and infrastructure spending to ensure that its economy grows within the 6-6.5 percent target range, The Eurasia Center reports. South Africa remains a key pillar in BRICS. The Conference was held at The African Union Representational Mission to the United States (Africa House) in D.C.
