Anti-Brexit campaigner Gina Miller vows to take the UK government to court if the next PM tries to shut down Parliament to push through No Deal.  Miller, an activist and London business manager, has  told Boris Johnson, who is most certain to be the next Prime Minister,  she will take him to court to block a no deal Brexit.  Miller says  it would be an abuse of the PM’s powers to suspend parliament to force through a no-deal .

“Today we announced that I assembled the winning legal team from my case before the Supreme Court in 2017, when Brexit supporting MPs first mooted the idea of proroguing Parliament to achieve a no-deal,” Miller stated.

Miller may be among the most hated women in the United Kingdom for her campaign challenging power Brexit forces.  Miller is most famous for waging a nasty  legal battle in 2017 to force Parliament to  hold debates on Brexit. At the time,  Miller claimed her critics  called for her head delivered on a silver platter or to be mounted on a wall. In addition to death threats, Miller claimed there were  calls for her to be raped.  Miller, a 53-year-old investment manager,  became the face of a vitriolic legal battle to force Britain‘s Parliament to hold debates before England exits the European Union. The Supreme Court of the UK ruled in September 2017  that an Act of Parliament is required to give consent before the government can trigger Article 50 and formally withdraw from the EU.  Miller was the lead claimant in the legal challenge to the British government over triggering the divorce from EU.

Miller’s central argument is that only Parliament could make a decision that would lead to the loss of her ‘rights’ under EU law. Miller, originally from Guyana, was accused of igniting a legal firestorm that threatened to cause one of the biggest political upsets in Britain’s history.  She claimed  to have been subjected to ‘horrific’ verbal and on-line abuse:

“I’ve been told as a coloured woman, I’m not even human. I’m a primate so I should be hunted and have my head mounted,” Gina Miller, as reported by UK Independent.   Others on social media had threatened to make her “watch my family be killed and burned”.

Miller maintains legal challenge is not to halt Brexit but protect democracy

“It is about any government, any prime minister, in the future being able to take away people’s rights without consulting Parliament,” Miller states, as reported by the BBC.  “ We cannot have a democracy like that. That isn’t a democracy, that is verging on dictatorship.”

Miller accused of being part of ‘wealthy elite’ bent on overturning Brexit

Farage  accused Miller, a private financier, of being part of a “moneyed elite” that wants to betray the wishes of the British people who voted to leave the European Union in June 2016.  “I have seen this happen all over Europe. I’ve seen the Danes forced to vote again, the Irish forced to vote again, the Dutch and French ignored. There is a political and wealthy ruling elite who are not prepared to accept the democratic result of referendums,” Farage said on BBC Andrew Marr Show.

Speaking on his LBC radio show, Mr Farage began: “Gina Miller, remember her, yes of course and she’s done her best in every way to frustrate Brexit.’
