Ousted Bolivian President Evo Morales has reportedly surfaced in Cuba for a medical appointment. Morales traveled to Cuba from Mexico, where he received political asylum following his military ouster last month, according to sources. On Friday night, Morales flew out of Mexico on a plane bound for Havana. Mexico’s foreign relations ministry confirmed that Morales had left for Cuba on Friday, on what it called a temporary visit. Morales fled Bolivia after being forced to resign on November 10. On December 4, the Organization of American States (OAS) reiterated its allegations of “irregularities” in the last presidential elections in Bolivia by presenting the final version of the report that led to the departure of the former president. Some observes speculate Morales is planning a political comeback, with reports he is set to relocate to Argentina once that country’s new leftist leader, Alberto Fernández, takes office this week.
