NEW YORK – A United Nations diplomat was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on New Year’s Eve in an apparent suicide, according to a report in the NY Post. The woman was found face-down with a belt around her neck in the bedroom. At about noon on December 31, 2020, New York police officers sent police after receiving a phone call and found the 38-year-old woman in an apartment bedroom, surrounded by antidepressants and two bottles of melatonin. The police found no signs of foul play. The diplomat lived alone in a four-story apartment located at 333 East 45th Street in New York City’s Manhattan district near the UN for two years. No information has been released regarding the UN state in whose permanent mission she worked, nor on her citizenship. The UN press service has not yet commented to confirm whether the woman was in fact connected to the UN.
