France delivered nine Panhard ERC-90 6×6 armoured vehicles to Chad’s military Saturday to beef up the west African nation’s counter-terror operations in the SAHEL. The French Embassy in Chad announced the military delivery that took place in the capital N’Djamena. The ceremony attended by Chad’s defence minister Lieutenant General Abali Salah in the presence of the Ambassador of France Bertrand Cochery and General Jean-Pierre Perrin, Commander of the French Elements in Gabon (EFG).
The French Embassy in Chad said 20 soldiers are currently being trained France’s military in Gabon in order to support the ANT in its counterterrorism and peacekeeping operations

“As part of its military partnership with France, the Chadian national army benefits from a comprehensive equipment and training program to eventually have additional armored capacity. These machines were supplied with the spare parts necessary for their maintenance, including additional engines, as well as ammunition. In total, a pool of 12 crews will be able to use the ERC-90s and will provide the Chadian national army with a significant, operational and reactive armored capacity. Rustic, efficient and reliable, these ERC-90s have proven themselves and will perfectly meet the operational needs of the Chadian army in its contributions to the fight against terrorism and to peacekeeping operations.”
