BRONX – NEW YORK – A 21-year-old male was shot in the head inside an apartment building in the Morris Park section of the Bronx Wednesday and later pronounced dead at BronxCare Health System Hospital. A 61-year-old male was also shot in the stomach in the same apartment and is in stable condition. No arrests have been made, according to police. Police said the deadly shooting happened at about 4:53 a.m. at 65 Featherbed Lane. The two victims were hanging out in the third-floor hallway of the building when the shooter opened fire, police said.

No motive for the shootings have been established, but neighbors said the location was known for alleged drug dealing and is frequented by squatters. Detectives continue to search for the gunman. Neighbors described the younger man killed as an aspiring rapper.

NYPD officers from the 46th Precinct arrived on the scene after a 911 call was dispatched reported gunfire at the apartment. Officers found the 21-year-old man shot in the head and the 61-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his stomach. An ambulance arrived and transported the younger man to nearby BronxCare Health System, where he died a short time later. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification. The 61-year-old victim remains hospitalized in stable condition at St. Barnabas Hospital, according to police.
