2 Homeless Men Stabbed In Bloody Altercation Near Madison Square Garden, New York

MANHATTAN,  NY –   Two homeless men stabbed each other in a bloody altercation that began inside the Moynihan Train Hall across from Madison Square Garden at Penn Station  Sunday afternoon, police said.  They were both taken with injuries to Bellevue Hospital and were in police custody.  It was unclear what started the dispute that eventually spilled out onto the streets with one of the  men fleeing into a pizzeria where they continued to slash each other with knives.

Police said one of the men was stabbed in his neck and arm in the  dispute that began at approximately 1:00 p.m.  The two continued to fight outside the pizzeria. Police said the two men then fought each other walking up another five blocks to 38th Street.

A phalanx of homeless people congregate daily in and around Penn Station near Madison Square Garden, some with mental issues.

One of the men  was 55-years-old and  in serious, but stable condition. The other was in stable condition, police said.  Neither of their identities have been released by police as the investigation into  the  altercation continued.
