BROOKLYN,   NEW  YORK  –  Ten people were shot and at least 16 injured  at a Brooklyn subway station this morning,  police said.  They were treated at nearby hospitals for injuries, none of which were life-threatening, according to hospital representatives.  Authorities said the suspect, who remains at large, put on a gas mask, deployed a gas canister and then began shooting. The shooter’s motive is still unknown, officials say.  The bloody carnage  took place during the morning rush hour at approximately 8:30 a.m. on a Manhattan-bound N train.  The gunman took out a 9mm semiautomatic Glock and fired 33 rounds at commuters, shooting 10 persons and injuring 16 others. Chilling video taken inside the station showed panicked passengers fleeing through a haze of smoke, a injured victim laying in a pool of blood, and a woman who lost a shoe walking around dazed barefoot. Witnesses told of blood splattered and smeared on a subway car’s  seats.  Police described the suspected shooter as a man about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 170 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt in addition to a green vest.  According to police,  16 of the victims sustained smoke inhalation and were possibly injured while fleeing the carnage. Five of the victims are in critical condition.

“We saw a quiet Tuesday morning turn an N train into a war zone as a smoke bomb was detonated and multiple shots rang out,”

-New York Mayor Eric Adams said during a briefing.
