Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited Cuba Thursday meeting with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel. Lavrov also met with the Revolutionary leader Raul Castro and foreign minister Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla. Lavrov’s visit to Cuba is the final stop on his Latin America tour, which began on Monday taking him to Brazil, Venezuela and Nicaragua.  Moscow and Havana’s foreign ministers discussed a wide range of topics related to the development of cooperation between Russia and Cuba, as well as regional and international issues, according to sources.

“In official talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rsusia , Sergei Lavrov, we confirm the excellent state of bilateral ties and the common willingness to continue strengthening them in all spheres, for the mutual benefit of our peoples.”

Russia is one of Cuba’s top ten trading partners. While in Venezuela, Lavrov held a meeting with President Nicolas Maduro. Both vowed continued support for each other’s country and condemned the economic sanctions the United States has imposed on them.
