UNITED NATIONS  –  Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon Tuesday presented what he said is new evidence of Iran using civilian infrastructure in Syria and Lebanon to smuggle weapons to Hezbollah to sponsor terrorism in the  Middle East. The Israeli ambassador spoke at a Security Council meeting held to address the situation in the Middle East.

“I will address the security council on the regime of the republic of Iran. I will present today new evidence of its efforts to promote chaos in the region and around the world. We see what is happening today in the Gulf. We are all aware of Iran’s provocative behavior in the Gulf over the past few weeks. We all know Iran is using civilian airports in Damascus, and in Beirut.   They are using civilian land infrastructure in the Syria-Lebanon border to smuggle weapons, dual-use equipment and other capabilities. It is clear that Iranian regime will stop at nothing to escalate the region toward conflict.”

“Today, I will inform you of new information that Iranians specifically the (Al) Quds Force are also exploiting civilian maritime channels and especially the Port of Beirut.  For this same reason, hiding its true intention, the  (Iranian)  regime has succeeded in purchasing dual-use equipment from civilian companies mainly in Europe, and transforming it through the Port of Beirut. The goal for these materials is to support Hezbollah so the Iranian proxy can advance it weapon supply and missile conversion program.  Today, unfortunately, in other words, the Port of Beirut has transformed into the Port of Hezbollah.”

Israeli-Palestinian Conflict ‘Locked in a Dangerous Paralysis:  UN Under-Secretary-General

Tangible steps are urgently needed to reverse a negative trajectory in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs told the UN Security Council Tuesday, urging Member States to do all they can to create the circumstances for advancing peace.  Opening the Council’s quarterly open debate on the situation in the Middle East, in which 47 speakers participated, Rosemary DiCarlo said the Israeli‑Palestinian conflict remains “locked in a dangerous paralysis that is fueling extremism and exacerbating tensions.”

LEBANON Delegate Calls on UN Security Council To Prevent “Israel From Launching Another  War” on Lebanon

Lebanon’s delegate said that, if her Israeli counterpart Ambassador Danon meant to prepare the ground for an attack of her country’s civilian port, airport and infrastructure with his remarks, then the Council should uphold its responsibility to prevent Israel from launching another war on her nation.  “The last thing the region needs is another war.”

“Israel is carrying out daily violations of Lebanese territory by land, air and sea.”

-Lebanon UN Delegate

IRAN’s Delegate said the Council’s inability to end the occupation is due to the unreserved support of the United States for Israel, which has emboldened the Zionist regime to commit international crimes with impunity.  Iran’s delegate added that the Council must end a vicious cycle of being bullied by one of its permanent members.  He went on to say that the statement by Israel’s delegate was an unsuccessful attempt to distract attention from the crimes and unlawful policies of its regime.

Israeli Ambassador Makes Note Of Argentina Designating Hezbollah As Terrorist Organization

During comments to the press made before the start of Tuesday’s UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East, the Israeli ambassador also noted Argentina designating Hezbollah as a terrorist organization last week on the 25th anniversary of the  bombing of the Amia Jewish cultural centre in Buenos Aires, in which 85 people died.

“In doing so, it (Argentina) joined 55 other countries in recognizing Hezbollah’s heinous operations.  Of the 15 current members of the UN Security Council only the US, the UK,  France and   Kuwait  have labeled Hezbollah as a terrorist organization in its entirety.   It is time for our European colleagues to wake up to the threat Hezbollah and the Iranian regime pose to the region, to Europe and to the world. It is time to follow Argentina’s example before Iran and its proxies strike again. Today, it is not the day for appeasement, but rather the moment for all of us to take a stand in protection of the world order.”
