NEW YORK CITY – A man was stabbed in the neck and killed Sunday morning as he slept on a train in what police described as a random attack at Penn Station. Police said the stabbing happened at around 12:30 a.m. The 32-year-old victim, identified as Akeem Loney, was on a northbound 2 train, according to the NY Post. Loney was described as an avid street soccer player and may have been homeless at the time of his killing.

After being stabbed in the neck, Loney was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to the NY Post, in 2017 Looney joined the adult portion of Street Soccer USA, a Manhattan-based recreational program for special-needs and homeless children.

The alleged killer is still at large, police said. The NYPD issued a Wanted For Homicide Alert:
Police said suspect is approximately 5’9″ and around 185 lbs. Video footage captured show alleged suspect wearing a white baseball cap, covered with a checkered hood, a grey jacket, a white shirt, black trousers, black footwear, and a face mask.

2 Homeless Men Stabbed In Bloody Altercation Near Madison Square Garden, New York

Just last month, two homeless men stabbed each other in a bloody altercation that began inside the Moynihan Train Hall across from Madison Square Garden at Penn Station. They were both taken with injuries to Bellevue Hospital and were in police custody. It was unclear what started the dispute that eventually spilled out onto the streets with one of the men fleeing into a pizzeria where they continued to slash each other with knives.
